On Thursday 10th June, St. Tropez-born, London-based dark-pop visionary GEISTE unveils her immersive, richly-layered new EP Retrogrades’ via Liverpool indie label Snide Records.

Stream ‘I Just Feel Really Empty Inside All The Time’

The five track EP is an introduction into a deeply atmospheric world of rich textures and deeply dark soundscapes as GEISTE takes the listener on a journey through some of the most difficult times in her life.

Intimately exploring themes of hurt, abuse and toxic relationships via delicate, dancing synths, bouncing electronic percussion and swirling, celestial vocals – ‘Retrogrades’ is equal parts moody and intricate.

Speaking about the EP, GEISTE elaborates: “Retrogrades is the return to reality following the story of Utopia. It’s a walk through periods of pain from my past. I wanted sounds to be cold and heavy – referencing heavy emotions. The  EP references a lot of cities where I lived and people that made me feel trapped and lonely. The last song, Retrograde talks about falling for a person that can’t give back anything from being self destructive in that particular period of their lives because of previous events.”

Born in the south of France near the town of St Tropez, GEISTE began writing stories and her own music at a young age. Quickly evolving from an acoustic act to a more electronic live set and starting producing her own music, her signing with Liverpool indie newcomers Snide Records has seen her release a string of singles, ‘Alibi’, ‘Tide, ‘I Just Feel Really Empty Inside All The Time’ & ‘Twig’, picking up key tastemaker support from The Line of Best Fit, 1883 Magazine, LOCK Magazine, Amazing Radio and Fresh On The Net as well as spots on VEVO’s ‘Emerging Artists 2021’ and ‘New Alternative’ playlists.

Though the 2020 edition of Liverpool Sound City was cancelled due to Covid-19, GEISTE will return in 2021. Her initial booking also led to selection for the coveted INES Talent Scheme, so expect to see GEISTE on the wider European festival circuit over the next few years. With a publishing deal with LA based Angry Mob Music Group also penned in 2020, and a recent recipient of the Help Musicians; Do It Differently Fund, the future is certainly looking bright for GEISTE.
