Refreshingly unconventional dance music duo Korky Buchek are one of Australia’s prominent emerging electronic acts for 2020-2021. Their single ‘Katt Williams’ is a cheerful and upbeat banger that celebrates the talented and hilarious comedic wizard. The duo have also released an official remix of Otis Redding & Carla Thomas track ‘Tramp’ via Warner Music. Both tracks definitely differ in mood and soundwaves, we are not sure what the men will unveil next but we have no doubt it will lack a funky beat.
We chatted with dance duo Korky Buchek as they paint a colourful picture of their unique sound.
Tell us about your highlights for the year
Putting out an official remix for Otis Redding was an amazing feeling, and definitely the highlight of our year. Amongst all the lockdowns we have still managed to connect with a lot of amazing artists as well :).
If you could paint a picture of your sound, what would it look like?
It would look like an electric thunderstorm with a kaleidoscope of colours.
What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
Kaytranada – 99.9%
Mac Miller – Swimming
Disclosure – Settle
Bonobo – Migration
Atalas – Rufus
What other artists do you really like at the moment and why?
Bicep – For their gorgeous euphoric sonics, it’s just beautiful emotional electronic music.
Jamie xx – For the same reason. During these lockdowns it has given us time to be emotional and it’s beautiful.
How did you get to your first gig ?
We used to be club promoters because it was the only way to get gigs back then if you didn’t have amazing music out. The event flipped after two nights 🤣.
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that no-one would expect.
We both wear G-strings every day.
What do you consider your biggest achievement so far?
Doing an official remix for Otis Redding was a dream come true, having our names lined up next to his. A pretty surreal feeling.
Famous last words?
A party! Let’s have a party.
