Tell us about your highlights for the year
Releasing our album, Awake You Lie, and being award the Sounding the Feminists/National Concert Hall Music Project Award. The award has given us the chance to work with an incredible visual artist (1iing Heaney) and record a really beautiful and unique livestream in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. It’s been so much fun. The livestream will be a fantasy radio hour, and airs on June 23rd at 8pm for free via the National Concert Hall, Dublin’s Youtube page.
If you could paint a picture with of your sound, what would it look like?
Our album artwork by 1iing Heaney is exactly what we would paint-albeit quite badly- blueish/purple mountains behind a veiled moon.
What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
1. Multilove – Unknown Mortal Orchestra
2. Fits- White Denim
3 A Seat at the Table -Solange
4. Houses of the Holy- Led Zeppelin
5. Blue- Joni Mitchell
What other artists do you really like at the moment and why?
Denise Chaila – an incredible poet/rapper from Ireland doing wonderful things with Narolane Records.
Love Saint Sister – can’t wait for their new album which is coming soon.
Just discovered Hope Tala – her music is a breath of fresh air.
Villagers – an amazing artist who keeps releasing incredible albums.
How did you get to your first gig ?
Our first gig as a band was at a school Christmas concert, we’ve known each other since we were 11…There was a rigorous audition process.
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that no-one would expect.
We all have matching tattoos that say SURE LOOK (Irish slang for “fuck it”).
What do you consider your biggest achievement so far?
Reaching no. 1 on the Irish Independent album charts twice was pretty nice, but honestly, our biggest achievement has been persevering with what we are doing and growing together, creatively and personally.
Famous last words?
It’ll be grand! (Sure look…be grand!)
