Based between New York and London, she has carved out a distinctive space at the intersection of electronic production, alt-pop forms, and shadowy aesthetics since debuting ‘Versace Spaceship’ in August 2023. Her catalog has surpassed half a million Spotify streams and drawn attention from outlets including Rolling Stone UK, Electronic Groove, YourEDM, and other various tastemakers. Remixes of ‘KILLED U IN A DREAM’ arrived courtesy of biskuwi and Droid Bishop, while Das Mörtal transformed ‘Uncanny Valley’ into a darksynth cut supported by NPR Music. Raised in California, I’MMORTAL’s background in orchestral violin and high school musicals informs her meticulous production style, blending classical sensibilities with the textured basslines and synthetic detail of contemporary EDM. Her synesthesia shapes the fusion of otherworldly visuals and sound, with recurring themes of death and rebirth, the tension between natural and artificial, femininity, and AAPI identity. ‘SWAMP MONSTER’ is both unruly and experimental, anchored by a dense electronic bassline and a rhythm section that collides with sharp synth leads and layered textures. I’MMORTAL’s whispered vocals lend a spectral quality, amplifying the track’s dark, uncanny atmosphere and cementing its place as a Halloween offering. The production is handled by I’MMORTAL herself, with mixing and mastering by Mikaelin Bluespruce, whose credits include Solange, Mariah Carey, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Blood Orange. The accompanying video, her first as a solo director, features a vivid pink humanoid anglerfish pole dancing in a fluorescent-lit marshland. I’MMORTAL constructed the lampshade hat, edited the footage, and orchestrated the reveal of the lamp figure as an anglerfish.
