Kari Faux offers up a presentation to her sound and personality with her Primary EP released 22 September.

In 2015 she released a project titled Lost En Los Angeles which alluded to her moving back home and starting from scratch – which she did.

Ever since Faux’s music has been featured on the Netflix show Insecure and she has worked with Isaiah Rashad as well as Donald Glover on his Awaken album.

The 7-track EP includes two previous releases, ‘Lowkey’ and ‘Gotta Know’ and features artists like Matt Martians, Melo-X, Jerry Paper, Lord Narf. The singer/rapper recorded, mixed and mastered Primary herself along with help from Matt Martians (The Internet).

She said about the experience: “Being back home definitely impacted my sound,” Faux explains. “I was very confident and comfortable in the music that was made because I was in my room alone or in Atlanta with Matt [Martians, of The Internet]. I wasn’t worried about what everyone else was making or trying to emulate a popular sound. I just did/said what felt natural to me.”

Faux has made the EP available on her Soundcloud page to stream. Listen to ‘Facetious’ here:
