London-based dream-pop artist Ilja Alexander has released ‘I’ll Wait’ via Green Monk Records. The single premiered via Rolling Stone India. The track was produced by Curtis Richardson (Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Joss Stone), Adien Lewis (Taemin, SHINee, NCT Dream and BTS’ single, ‘Inner Child’ on their latest album) as well as Alexander, mixed by Matt Wiggins (U2, Adele, Lorde) and mastered by Randy Merrill (Taylor Swift, Liam Gallagher, Lady Gaga). Alexander has received extensive support in Indonesia including publication Cosmopolitan Magazine, CLEO Magazine, and Medium.
Alexander has cited influences like Electric Light Orchestra, The Libertines, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, The Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach and The XX. Phuture Life adds, “Reminiscent of the early British rock scene with particular focus on the work of Paul Mc Cartney and John Lennon, Alexander combines this distinct sound with contemporary fine-tuning in the form of electronic adornment. The overall tone of the track is hope turned to joy, expressing his feelings about his love from afar.”
‘I’ll Wait’ is a romantic ode to a lover. The lyrics express the promise of a future together, even though the lovers cannot be together at present. The lyrics are somewhat bittersweet, but the instrumental and electronics ease the sadness with its hopeful and upbeat tempo.
