Berlin-based artist and producer Solarrio (David Barenboim) unveiled his latest track on the 10th of October 2023, titled ‘NLF’, featuring the dynamic and culturally innovative Holland Izz. Born in Paris to Russian and Argentinian parents, Solarrio tries to incorporate his global influences into his music. After producing for numerous German hip-hop artists as KD Supier throughout the 2000s, he rebranded as Solarrio in 2016 to launch his own project which blends 80s synthpop, R&B and funk with electronic beats. Holland Izz (moniker of Alhassan Sakho), hailing from Compton, California, is a recording artist and record producer who is reinventing the sound of contemporary hip-hop. His distinctive style, characterized by energy-fueled delivery and clever bars, has earned him recognition from top hip-hop blogs like XXL, Lyrical Lemonade, and No Jumper.
‘NLF’ is a fusion of pop-funk, dancepop and funk, paying homage to the legendary sounds of the eighties while delivering an infectiously uptempo and funky dance experience. A fat synth bass and dance-ready beat create an irresistible groove that deliciously bright synths float over, and anthemic vocals brimming with a fantastic blend of yearning and sassiness get stuck in your head. Solarrio‘s debut album, All The Wrong Places, is scheduled for a spring 2024 release on Playel Records, and ‘NLF’ is a sensational preview of what is to come.
Solarrio commented on the track: “I’m a huge eighties RNB/Funk fan—Prince, Rick James, anything produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. I really wanted to bring that kind of vibe back with my debut album. This particular song is definitely an homage. Upbeat, groovy, fun, and funky. It’s one of my favorites from my album!“
