Today, August 1, 2025, Karmacoda, the San Francisco duo famous for mixing genres, releases their latest track, ‘Practically Impossible to Please’, on Sola Musa Music. Producer Brett Crockett (known as B.) and multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno have spent over 20 years building a sound that drifts through electronica, trip-hop, R&B, and dream pop. Their music has caught the ear of Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, and EARMILK, plus landed airplay on NPR and RTÉ 2XM. They’ve also collected awards like a Platinum Hermes Creative Awards for their ‘Lo-Fi Girl’ video, a Gold Unglued Music Video award, and three Silver Davey Awards. For this release, they teamed up with Bay Area vocalist Megan Slanker, creating a track that’s already making waves.
‘Practically Impossible to Please’ pulls from 90s and 2000s Soul Pop, adding a modern twist. Brett Crockett’s production lays down a rich, R&B-flavored base with smooth beats and layered textures, lifting Megan Slanker’s raw, gospel-tinged vocals front and center. Co-written by the pair, this slow-burn anthem carries the emotional weight of Alicia Keys or SZA. It’s ideal for anyone craving a soulful hook with some edge.
Brett Crockett said, “I wanted to craft a modern R&B and Soul track with an electronica touch and an old-school feel. We reached out to our friend Megan Slankard, a talented vocalist and musician who loved the vibe. She wrote the lyrics, took the lead on vocals, and delivered an incredible, heartfelt performance. The song captures someone in a rocky relationship calling herself ‘practically impossible to please.’”
