Charli XCX has just put out ‘Wall of Sound,’ the newest track from her Wuthering Heights soundtrack album. The full album arrives on February 13, the same day as Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of the Brontë novel. After Brat dominated 2024 with its raw club energy, endless remixes, and critical praise, Charli shows again that she can change her style. She’s known for moving between chaotic hyperpop and more vulnerable, emotional songs. This soundtrack seems like a real shift toward something both wilder and more introspective.

‘Wall of Sound’ is restrained and moody. Slow orchestral strings create an uneasy feeling as they build. Charli sings in a direct, honest way, her voice sounding plain and open. She shifts from a cool distance to real vulnerability as she repeats lines about feeling trapped. The violins build up in tense, clashing layers, giving the song a haunting touch. The track is short but quickly sets a strong mood, similar to older songs like ‘Party 4 U’ or ‘Track 10’, but with a darker, more classical sound.

Now, ‘Wall of Sound‘ joins ‘House,’ which features spoken parts from John Cale, and the synth-heavy ‘Chains of Love.’ These three previews show that the project mixes rich orchestral sounds with alt-pop influences.

The previews already come together with a strong gothic feel. ‘House’ uses classic sounds and Cale’s voice to add depth. ‘Wall of Sound’ pushes the strings even more, letting the uneasy notes last. ‘Chains of Love’ keeps a pop element but doesn’t break the mood. Through all three, Charli keeps that raw, intense energy she talked about. The songs fit together through their shared tension and uneasy textures, making the soundtrack feel focused and carefully made.
