Frequency Cowboy’s debut single ‘Control’ has just been released via Dactyl Spondee Records. In addition, the artist has shared the video for the track.

Classically trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist Sam Hurt has been gaining traction with his quirky blend of indie-pop. He has gained the attention of tastemaker publications, with ‘Control’ being premiered by The Line Of Best Fit and picked by DIY Mag as part of their “guide to best new music.”

The track is reminiscent of the 90’s, with upbeat instrumentals and thoughtful lyrics. Citing influences as varied as Sir Was, Beck and Sonic Youth, Hurt uses the Wurlitzer piano as the elemental instrument to create his idiosyncratic blend of indie pop.

Speaking of the video, Hurt says: “The video was a joint effort with me and my partner. She wrote and directed; I built the set. It’s about drawing parallels between Orwell’s 1984 and what’s happening right now. We’re living in a post-truth era. Democracy is being ‘managed’ by billionaire donors using big data, social media and TV to present untruths as fact. Brexit, Trump, Teresa May what next?”
